TOM NOVY “RETROSPECTIVE”

The cooperation between Kosmo Records and Tom Novy lasted for fifteen years.

For the DJ scene a small eternity, especially because during this time Kosmo Records was responsible for the global marketing of Tom Novy.

“Retrospective” provides a nice overview of the main Tom Novy releases on Kosmo Records, from underground – club hits like “Pumpin” up to international chart hits like “Your Body”, which over the years have been created in collaboration with various producers, co-producer and singer / singers.

Hence, Tom Novy’s debut single “I House You” was released in 1995, when Mr. Novy already was a well known star at local level, performing with DJ Gigs in the munich clubs “Babalu” and “Parkcafe”, outside of Munich he was completely unknown.

Not much later, in cooperation with Afrika Islam, “Odyssey” was produced as an anthem to the legendary “Rave & Cruise” events.

Then, in the year 1998, the big breakthrough happened. Together with producer Eniac the unforgettable “Superstar” and  the club classic “Pumpin” was created.

With the success of these releases, the DJ career of Tom Novy started little by little and he was able to establish himself gradually as one of the Big-Name-DJs in the international House scene.

Several hits with co-producer Adrian Bahil followed: “I Rock” with the spine-tingling vocals of Virginia, “Now Or Never” with the distinctive Lima and Tom’s probably biggest hit ever “Your Body” with vocals by Mike Marshall, who got it into the top 10 of the UK singles chart.

In addition to the original radio versions of all the different tracks of Tom Novy, also a variety of remixes by renowned DJ’s that contributed their interpretations from the Tom Novy catalogue, can be found on Tom Novy “Retrospective”.

“Retrospective” may be stands as a welcome Tom Novy “Best Of” and takes the fan of high class House music to a journey through the history of club music from 1995 to 2011. In addition to the boozy champagne parties a pinch of melancholy may resonate – a bit like a Closing Party at the end of a Ibiza season.

15 Jahre hat die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Kosmo Records und Tom Novy gehalten.

Dies ist für die DJ Szene eine kleine Ewigkeit, gerade auch weil Kosmo Records in der gesamten Zeit für die weltweite Vermarktung von Tom Novy zuständig war.

„Retrospective“ liefert  einen schönen Überblick über die wichtigsten Tom Novy Veröffentlichungen auf Kosmo Records, von undergroundigen Clubhits wie „Pumpin“  bis hin zu weltweiten Chart-Hits wie „Your Body“, die in Zusammenarbeit mit diversen Produzenten, Co-Produzenten und Sängern/Sängerinnen im Laufe der Jahre entstanden sind.

So wurde Tom Novy‘s Debutsingle „I House You“ 1995 veröffentlicht, als Herr Novy zwar bereits ein Münchner Lokalmatador mit DJ Gigs im Babalu und im Parkcafe war, außerhalb von München aber noch gänzlich unbekannt war.

Wenig später wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit Afrika Islam „Odyssey“ als Hymne zu den legendären „Rave & Cruise“ Veranstaltungen produziert.

1998 folgte  dann der große Durchbruch. Zusammen mit dem Produzenten Eniac wurde neben dem unvergesslichen „Superstar“ auch der  Clubklassiker „Pumpin“  geschaffen.

Mit den Erfolgen dieser Veröffentlichungen kam die DJ Karriere von Tom Novy langsam in Schwung und so konnte er sich schrittweise zu einem der Big Name-DJs in der internationalen House Szene etablieren.

Es folgten diverse Hits mit Co-Produzent Adrian Bahil. „I Rock“ mit den Gänsehaut-Vocals von Virginia, „Now Or Never“ mit der unverwechselbaren Lima und Tom’s wohl größtem Hit ever „Your Body“ mit Vocals von Mike Marshall, der es bis in die Top 10 der UK Single Charts schaffte.

Neben den originalen Radio Versionen all der unterschiedlichen Tom Novy Tracks finden sich auf „Retrospective“ aber auch eine Vielzahl an Remixen von namhaften DJ’s, die  ihre Interpretationen des Tom Novy Kataloges beisteuern.

„Retrospective“ darf als eine willkommene Tom Novy Best Of gelten und liefert dem Fan von qualitativer Housemusic eine Zeitreise durch die Clubgeschichte von 1995 bis 2011, bei der neben dem feuchtfröhlichen Champagner-Feiern auch eine Prise Wehmut mitschwingen darf, ein bisschen wie bei einer Closing Party am Ende einer Ibiza Saison.
